Las Vegas, NV (KXNT) – A trial date has been set for a pair accused of deliberately striking and running down a man out for a morning bike ride back in 2023.

In a Tuesday hearing, a judge set the new court date for Jesus Ayala and Jzamir Keys to November 3, 2025.

Ayala, who was the driver, and Keys are accused of killing retired California police chief Andreas and recording the incident. Both face murder charges.

There had been a delay in setting a firm date for a trial to begin trial due to questions about Ayala’s mental state, but a judge recently ruled him as competent to stand trial.

Though both were teenagers when the incident occurred, the will be tried as adults.

Ayala and Keyes remain in jail A status check on the case is scheduled for June.
