With venues hiking their prices significantly during New Year’s, putting a strain on people’s wallets that have already been hit hard by inflation, the personal-finance website WalletHub released its report on 2023’s Best Cities for New Year’s, along with its infographic of 50+ New Year’s Facts – Traditions, Spending & More.
To determine which cities are the best for safely ringing in the new year without breaking the bank, WalletHub compared the 100 biggest cities across 26 key metrics, ranging from the legality of fireworks and the nightlife options per capita to food affordability and forecasted precipitation for Dec. 31.
While no one throws a party like Las Vegas, the website determined that three other cities throw a better New Year’s Eve bash than us.
Orlando, Florida grabbed the top spot, followed by San Diego and New York City.
Hurting Las Vegas’ overall score was a last place finish (tied with Honolulu) in the “Price of 3-Star Hotel Room” category, which canceled out the top spot Vegas was awarded in the “Nightlife Options” category. Overall, Las Vegas ranked 77th in the “Costs” category, with a 7th place finish for “Entertainment and Food”, and 46th for “Safety and Accessibility”
Interestingly enough, North Las Vegas came in at the very bottom, making it- in WalletHub’s opinion – the very worst place to spend New Year’s Eve.
Henderson settled for 65th, while Reno was ranked a respectable 28th.
