Las Vegas, NV (KXNT) – A woman who hit and killed two people at an east-side valley bus stop back in April learned her sentence on Monday.

64 year-old Cynthia Phelps was sentenced to a minimum of 15 years behind bars.

Back on the night of April 17th, police say Phelps was driving at twice the legal limit while going the wrong way and speeding down Boulder highway when she lost control of her car and slammed into the bus stop, killing 42-year-old Robert Higgins and Higgins’ stepson, 14-year-old Erik Mcpherson

Amber Reedy, Erik’s mom and Robert’s wife, continues to recovery from injuries that left her in a coma for months. Two other children at the bus stop were also injured.

Phelps maintained that she had no memory of the crash, and apologized in a statement read by her public defender.
