Las Vegas, NV (KXNT) - Saying that it was no longer the party that it was when he first got involved in politics over two decades ago, North Las Vegas Mayor John Lee said Tuesday that he was switching from the Democratic Party over to the Republican side.
In his explanation, Lee citied the recent takeover of the state's Democratic Party by supporters of Vermont Senator - and Democratic Socialist - Bernie Sanders.
Lee made the announcement not only on Twitter but to a national audience of Fox News Channel's "Fox and Friends".
Lee was elected Mayor of North Las Vegas in 2013.
