
Las Vegas, NV (KXNT) – It’s a good news, bad new situation when it comes to the unemployment situation in Nevada.
First, the good. The state’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate in March stayed at 5.5%, with the unadjusted rate dropping from 5.7% to 5.4%.
Las Vegas saw and increase of 4,100 jobs in March, according to figures released this week by the Nevada Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation. DETR says the state’s Leisure and Hospitality sector employment rates were almost completely back to pre-pandemic levels.
Now, the bad news: Nevada’s unemployment rate was still the highest in the nation, almost a full percentage point ahead of Oregon and the District of Columbia.
North and South Dakota had the lowest unemployment rates at 2.1%. Around the West, Washington’s was 4.6%, California’s 4.3%, Arizona’s 3.7%, New Mexico 4.6%
