Nye County authorities pause search for missing pilot

Las Vegas, NV (KXNT) – Nye County authorities said Wednesday that they will stopping efforts to reach the wreckage of a small plane that crashed northeast of Round Mountain.

The plane being piloted by Michael Martin of Las Vegas departed back on January 5th, but all contact with the plane was lost shortly thereafter.

It wasn’t until January 18th that Nye County officials announced that the wreckage of a plane had been discovered in the Mount Jefferson area, but the area where the plane was discovered has proved too difficult for rescue teams to access.

The NCSO says they expect it to take serval weeks until access can be gained in the area to determine if Martin is in the wreckage.
