Las Vegas, NV (KXNT) Touro University Nevada, home to Nevada’s largest medical school, is calling on the community to participate in a COVID-19 study to examine the presence of antibodies against SARS-CoV-2 in the blood of individuals who reside in the Las Vegas metro area.

The study is being done to help determine the true prevalence of infection from those who are unvaccinated, and the efficacy rate of the vaccines administered in our community.

Between now and December 2021, healthy volunteers ages 18 and older who meet the minimum weight requirement of 110 lbs. can schedule an appointment with Touro where they will provide a small blood sample to be used in the study. Prior to their blood drawing, they will complete a questionnaire that includes questions related to COVID-19, vaccines and testing, along with their demographic and health history.

Participants will have the option to know if their blood samples indicate whether they have antibodies against COVID-19.

Results of this study will be shared with the Southern Nevada Health District and published in peer-reviewed journals in the summer of 2022.

Those interested in participating should email TUNCOVID19Study@gmail.com.
