Unemployment rate in Nevada continues to decline

Clark County still has highest rate

Las Vegas, NV (KXNT) - After seeing unemployment rates in some area of Nevada top 30 percent during the peak of the coronavirus pandemic, the state’s unemployment agency released new figures Tuesday that suggested a continued rebound in the job market

According to the Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation’s May 2021 economic report, Nevada’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate was 7.8 percent in May 2021, down 24.5 percent in May 2020.

Seasonally adjusted estimates account for regularly seen economic patterns, with the following estimates not seasonally adjusted.

In the three Nevada Metropolitan Statistical Areas (MSA), the unemployment rates were 8.9 percent in the Las Vegas area, 4.5 percent in Reno, and 5.0 percent in the Carson area in May 2021.

In Nevada’s counties, the lowest unemployment rate was in Eureka County at 2.2 percent, and Clark County had the highest rate at 8.9 percent.

Since May 2020, all 17 counties have decreased their unemployment rates.
