We have seen the last of Marc-Andre Fleury in a Vegas Golden Knights' uniform.
The Golden Knights have traded the reigning Vezina Trophy winner to Chicago in exchange for minor league forward Mikael Hakkarainen. The team issued an official trade statement Tuesday morning.
Fleury's agent Allan Walsh said earlier if a trade was place, the five-time All-Star goalie will take a heartbeat to think about his playing future.
Fleury was set to enter his final year of his contract with the Golden Knights at a price tag of seven-million dollars. ESPN reports the Golden Knights would not retain any of those dollars, which would put Chicago up against the salary cap.
It does not seem the majority of Golden Knights fans are happy with the proposed move.
Fleury joined the Golden Knights in the 2017 NHL Expansion Draft, selected from the Pittsburgh Penguins. With Fleury headed out, only four players remain on the current VGK roster from the start of 2017.
