Las Vegas, NV (KXNT) – The man responsible for the revival of the UNLV Rebel football program has left the building.

It was announced Sunday that Barry Odom had accepted a deal to become the head football coach at Purdue University. Terms of the deal haven’t been announced.

Odom had been the head coach of the Rebels for the past two seasons, instantly turning the woebegone program around. The Rebels went 19-8 over two seasons with Odom at the helm, reaching (but losing to Boise State) in the Mountain West Conference Championship game both seasons.

Wide receivers coach Del Alexander will be the interim head coach when the Rebels face Cal in the Art of Sport LA Bowl Hosted By Gronk on December 18 in Los Angeles.
