PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — This week on Flashpoint: Host and KYW Community Affairs reporter Cherri Gregg asks the burning questions about coronavirus behind the wall.

In recent days, hundreds of inmates in prisons across America have tested positive for COVID-19. The Pennsylvania Department of Corrections reported eight staff and two inmate infections. In Philadelphia prisons, 31 inmates have tested positive for the coronavirus.  Justice reform advocates held protests, wrote Gov. Tom Wolf and petitioned the state's highest court seeking the swift release of low risk and medically vulnerable inmates.

Recently, the First Judicial District announced protocols for expedited review of hundreds of cases with the goal of sending inmates who do not pose a threat to public safety home in the coming days. Victim rights advocates have pushed back.
