PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — When we think of exercise, we focus on aerobics and strength, both of which are great things.

But don't forget balance.

Here is a suggestion: do a short warm-up of walking in place. Then stride briskly in a six-foot circle to your right, then to your left, so that eventually you forge a path that resembles a figure eight.

Once this feels easy, build on it by increasing your speed, walking heel-to-toe with no space between your feet, or walking backward.

Another issue is stress reduction, something exercise can be great for.

For the highly stressed, try couch-based yoga. Gentle, restorative poses lengthen your muscles and relieve tension. But the most important thing is use the resources you have; it doesn't have to cost a great deal of money.
