PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — I know there have been reports about people acting irresponsibly and putting themselves and others at risk by not wearing masks and respecting social distancing, but I think it is worth taking a second to show appreciation for how hard the vast majority of people are working to contain this virus by taking common sense steps to reduce spread.

The combination of washing hands routinely, cleaning surfaces and reducing spread from saliva by wearing masks has helped. As we approach Memorial Day, a traditional time for family to get together, it will definitely be tough, but please keep social distancing in mind.

There is always one person in every group who is best at cookouts, and it will be a sacrifice to watch them eating on their smartphone.

Keep in mind there is always next year and we all want to be around for that one.
