PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — The U.S. Preventive Services Task Force is a group of experts who examine the health needs of the country — virtually every condition from A to Z.
In fact, they have recommendations listed from A to Z. The USPSTF, as it is known, actually provides an excellent guide for physicians because their information and recommendations are based purely on evidence.
The way they look at it: They will not recommend a test or an intervention unless it is fully supported by studies. It is a very interesting concept — and a controversial one.
The USPSTF looks at society as a whole and does not focus on the individual person. Often the decision-making of your physician is guided by this group. Your physician can then apply the information to you.
