PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — The news that the recent spikes in COVID-19 cases are largely in young people might seem good — at first.
But, if you think about it closely, young people travel a lot, which means they will spread it from state to state.
Young people also often live with older people or visit older relatives, which means that they will transfer the virus to older people who are far more likely to get sick.
A surprising number of young people have pre-existing conditions, which means that they also are at risk for a far more serious battle with COVID-19.
There is one final concern, which might be the most worrisome. Many young people who are coronavirus positive will have symptoms so minor they won't know they have the virus, meaning they can unknowingly spread it to those they love.
