PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — There are more reasons to drink green tea, according to a report in the European Journal of Preventive Cardiology.

Scientists found consuming tea at least three times a week could help reduce the risk of premature death.

The study was performed in China, where the team of researchers found that in roughly 100,000 participants, those who drank tea at least three times a week were less likely to suffer a heart attack or stroke over the next seven years.

Health benefits of tea have been widely promoted because of cardiovascular benefits, but green tea appears to have the greatest impact.
