PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — COVID-19 dominates the news and at times seems to permeate every aspect of our lives. As a result, every new study about every possible treatment can be front page news. Need I mention the coverage of hydroxychloroquine?

But welcome to the world of medicine and science.

Let me share a secret with you: physicians and scientists don't have all of the answers, they just have a more strategic way to get to the answers. Some problems are relatively easy, like using certain antibiotics for certain bacterial infections.

The research was done long ago, but some problems like cancer or treatments for menopausal symptoms continuously change as new treatments evolve and evidence is developed.

COVID-19 is under the microscope and it’s not surprising that non-scientists jump to the latest shiny object they see.

Sometimes the shiny object is the answer, sometimes it will blind you.

Only time and evidence can provide the truth — if there is truth.
