PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — You have probably heard the phrase that New Year's Eve is amateur hour, as if there is a professional status that goes along with drinking too much.

But you should take those words seriously despite the cavalier nature of the saying.

The issue is that there will be people on the roads who have been drinking and attempting to drive. Despite the tremendous public awareness about drinking and driving, as well as the serious crackdown on DUIs, the roads can be perilous.

If you must head out, please wear seatbelts and make certain that loved ones are buckled in as well.

Above all, please don't drink and drive yourself. You may require your best reflexes and should be ready at any moment.
