Urban League President and CEO Andrea Custis says the plan is to distribute meals to children 18 and under throughout the Philadelphia area.
“So we have partnered to feed about 5,300 children, and the exciting part is we are going to feed them for six days, breakfast and lunch. So that’s about a half a million meals this summer,” she explained.
The meals will be distributed all over the city.
“We decided to partner with a lot of the Black churches in West Philadelphia, North Philadelphia and South Philadelphia, as well as some other wonderful organizations in the community. We are also in Delaware County; we’re at a few municipal buildings and a few organizations,” she said.
Every site will distribute three days worth of meals at a time, twice a week. The days and times will vary depending on the site.
