4 arrested for ransacking Wawa, attacking employees

PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) -- Police have arrested four people for causing havoc at a Northeast Philadelphia Wawa in the middle of the night. 

Authorities said it happened around 2:30 a.m. Friday when two men and two women, who were 19 and 20 years old, went into the Wawa on Tyson Avenue and Roosevelt Boulevard. While they were in there, police said they attacked three employees. One suffered a bite mark on his right arm and scratches on his face and neck. Another had a cut on her lip, and a third employee was maced. 


All three were taken to the hospital. A Wawa spokeswoman said they were treated and released. 

As for their attackers, police said they ransacked the convenience store but didn't get far. The were arrested outside the store. 

There was no word on charges. 

In a statement, Wawa said the company is cooperating with police and supporting the employees who were hurt.
