PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — While most attractions were closed for Christmas, the National Museum of American Jewish History in Philadelphia was a hotbed of activity.

The event began more than 30 years for Jewish families looking for something to do, but it got more inclusive when the museum moved to its current space on Independence Mall 10 years ago. That's why, spokeswoman Emily August says, it's called "Being (blank) at Christmas."

"Anyone, regardless of what they observe, can come here and have a fun time. There are a lot of fun activities throughout the museum all day, from the floor to the ceiling," said August.

There are still plenty of Jewish visitors, like Cara.

"My husband and I got married here so we're showing our little girl. We want her to have some of the tradition," she said.

But there was also Pat Dagnall, who came to see the Notorious RBG exhibit.

"Three of us decided, um, I don't want to insult anyone's family but it would be better than family functions," Dagnall said.

And she got an unexpected gift.

"There was a mother telling her little girl, 'look, Mr. Ginsburg supported his wife's work. He was the one who baked. So mommies and daddies can do whatever they want,'" Dagnall recalled.
