PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — If there was any question about whether or not there would be fans at Lincoln Financial Field come the start of the Eagles season, the answer is no.

Philadelphia and Pennsylvania officials confirmed Thursday that hosting fans at games will not be permitted until further notice.

The Eagles' home opener is scheduled for Sunday, Sept. 20, against the Rams.

Members of the team say they are disappointed — but they stress that the safety of players, staff and fans is their No. 1 priority.

The organization says it will continue discussions with state and local officials.
