The Delaware River and Bay Authority confirmed Tuesday that the advisory will not affect the current Cape May-Lewes Ferry schedule, which has been modified since the coronavirus pandemic hit.
According to a spokesman, the ferry captain will make an announcement about the advisory on each trip leaving the terminal in Lewes, Delaware. And all drivers coming aboard in Lewes will receive written notification about the quarantine, as well.
The self-quarantine advisory was issued to limit the spread of the virus. While the recommendation relies on personal accountability, state officials expect that affected individuals will follow the recommendation.
Travelers arriving from areas with an increasing rate of COVID-19 infections may wish to postpone their travel to the Garden State if they are unwilling or unable to follow the self-quarantine advisory.
According to the New Jersey Department of Health, people who travel back and forth between New Jersey and Delaware for work are exempt from the quarantine travel advisory but should work from home if possible.
