The Oval+ ("The Oval plus"), as it's called, is a public space created from eight acres of Eakins Oval. The area expands across much of the parking lot and a stretch of the road in front of the Philadelphia Museum of Art.

It brings family, friends, and Philadelphians from across the city to enjoy yoga, food, movies, games, and more.

Mayor Jim Kenney says Philadelphia is a hub of unique historical and cultural attractions and the Oval is one attraction that stands out for the innovative use of public space.

"This year's theme is 'double the fun on the Parkway.' And for the second year in a row, this activation will stretch down the Parkway from Eakins Oval all the way to Logan's Circle," he said.

The project is a partnership between the Fairmount Park Conservancy and Philadelphia Parks and Recreation.

"So we are doing it again in a better and better way... we have this amazing double-decker bus that doesn't actually go anywhere. We'll have DJs, we'll also have water ice," said Kathryn Ott Lovell, Philadelphia Parks and Recreation commisioner.

She says one thing visitors can look forward to seeing this year is the mural arts ground painting.
