The Barra Foundation’s board awarded $520,000 to several organizations and counties as they continue efforts to combat the coronavirus pandemic.
"One portion of the funding will go to our Barra Awards network, which are exemplary organizations that have been nominated by their community peers for leadership, performance and adaptability. They’ll receive unrestrictive payments of $2,500 each,” explained Barra president Tina Wahl.
Wahl said the organization gave $100,000 to the Philadelphia COVID-19 Fund, and $25,000 each to Montgomery, Bucks, Delaware, and Chester counties.
“And then finally we made a $50,000 grant to an existing catalyst fund grantee called Food Connect, which is at the center of the food rescue effort,” Wahl added.
The Wayne-based foundation is also exploring ways to help organizations recover in the long term from the health and economic crises.
