Philly’s favorite fuzzy creature (sorry, Phanatic) was honored Monday night in New York at the 23rd annual Webby Awards with the People’s Voice Award for best sports-related social media.
Dubbed the “internet’s highest honor,” the Webby Awards recognize creative celebs, web luminaries and social stars for their influence and creative content across categories such as websites, videos, social media and podcasts.
Donned in his best Angus Young cosplay — a three-piece suit-shorts combo, adorned with an orange and black tie — Gritty accepted the award by walking out to the “Rocky” theme song, squeaking his paws into the microphone and shooting a confetti cannon off the stage.
Although winners were announced last month, the ceremony brought them together to present their acceptance speeches — which, in typical Webby fashion, are limited to five words.
