PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Peanut butter was piled high Monday in South Philadelphia.

Students from Bethany Christian School in Oxford, Chester County brought hundreds of jars to Philabundance.

"We spend half of the month of February collecting peanut butter and jelly. We keep track of it. We announce the statistics each day so everyone gets excited about bringing more and more peanut butter and jelly in," said Brenda Ramsland, who teaches fifth-grade.

The students also ask local businesses to donate money to the cause.

Philabundance calls it the Spread the Love campaign, which aims to collect 40,000 jars of peanut butter throughout February to make high-protein snacks for kids in need.
