Camden cops’ use of force found to be justified against men who shot them

CAMDEN, N.J. (KYW Newsradio) — The Camden County Prosecutor’s Office has completed an investigation into a shooting indcident in Camden last summer that left two undercover police detectives wounded.

It was determined that the detectives' use of force was justified against suspects shooting at them.

Two men jumped out of a van on Aug. 7, 2018, and fired more than 20 shots into an unmarked car on Broadway Street with the two detectives inside, striking both of them. One of the detectives fired back, but neither of the alleged shooters were hit.

Three men were arrested in November in connection with the shooting and charged with attempted murder. The trio are scheduled for trial in late April.

A spokesman for the Camden County Police Department said the two detectives remain off the job.
