PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Mayor Jim Kenney has made his nine picks for Philadelphia's new school board — and eight of them are already serving on the board.

The newest name on the list is Ameen Akbar, a management consultant at the firm Grovider, who runs Universal Companies' From Boys to Men youth program.

Akbar will replace board Vice President Wayne Walker, who asked not to be renominated for personal reasons.

The nine members need confirmation from Philadelphia City Council. They'd officially begin their four-year terms on May 1.
