Murphy said there were “flare ups” of the virus after large house parties, including reports of one in Jackson that attracted 700 people.
“We’re not saying you can’t gather,” he said. “But it is literally irresponsible — you’re playing with fire — if you gather indoors without face coverings, without social distance, in close proximity.”
Murphy said he was concerned that having indoor dining and bars closed was driving house parties “underground.”
