PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy announced Monday the state needs more medical marijuana providers.
"When I took office last year, New Jersey had 17,000 patients in our medical marijuana program. Today, we have about 47,000 patients with nearly 3,000 patients joining the program each month," Murphy said.
The governor says they're requesting applications to expand their medical marijuana program.
"The Department of Heath is seeking up to 24 additional cultivators, 30 additional manufactures and 54 additional dispensaries," he said.
There are currently 12 medical marijuana providers approved by the state.
