Those doors can reopen June 29, but Gov. Phil Murphy has been cautious about opening anything indoors.
“Businesses within the indoor portions of a mall will be treated just as they would if they were located outside of a shopping mall. This means limiting the number of customers to 50% capacity and requiring employees to wear face coverings,” he said.
Of course, customers must wear face masks as well.
However, food courts are off limits, and movie theatres and arcades remain shut down.
Restaurants in the mall can offer takeout or outdoor dining.
He is also urging mall operators to set up plans to ease the flow of shoppers, including setting up specific entrance and exit points if that’s practical.
The state announced 442 new positive coronavirus cases, bringing the state total to 168,107 cases. With 38 additional deaths, the state total is now at 12,800 fatalities.
