For the next month, SEPTA riders can enjoy a different type of scenery on their commute.
"Track Takeover is a public art exhibit, which features 30 different Philadelphia artists and is hosted in the entire Walnut-Locust subway station," said Brendan Lowry, one of the collaborators behind the takeover series and creator of the popular Peopledelphia Instagram account.
One of the artists featured, Mabel Luu, said the Walnut-Locust Station holds a special place in her heart.
Roughly 6,000 people pass through that station every day. The project covers 2,000 square feet of ad space and 110 ad spots.
"In many ways, what I see this campaign as, in terms of benefit to City Fitness, is we're just taking what we pay a lot of attention to doing inside of our clubs and at the benefit of our members and putting it outside," said Wingert, "which is, with the space that is available to us, making the best possible use of it."
When the series ends on March 10, the art will be used to fill vacant SEPTA ad spots.
