The construction is happening along I-95 between Wheatsheaf Lane and Levick Street, or as PennDOT calls it, the Betsy Ross and Bridge Street sections.
This affects people who live in Philadelphia's Bridesburg neighborhood. Ed Krause says he's noticed more congestion in the neighborhood.
"Excessive truck traffic going down my street to get to the construction area," he said.
Diane Carsia deals with traffic delays every day.
"We cannot move. It is total gridlock in the morning. I can sit there sometimes for ten minutes without moving," she said.
"I just wondered if they were going to knock more houses down, if they were coming over making it wider," he said. "I just had a lot of questions."
PennDOT hosted the public meeting to hear about issues like these. It's the first such meeting they've held in six years. They also want suggestions for how they can improve the situation.
