Phillies' Herrera charged with domestic assault, placed on MLB leave

PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Phillies center fielder Odubel Herrera was arrested Monday night in Atlantic City on charges of domestic assault.

Atlantic City police were called to the Golden Nugget Hotel and Casino around 8:30 p.m. 

A 20-year-old Philadelphia woman told police she had been assaulted by her boyfriend, 27-year-old Herrera, during an argument. She had visible injuries to her neck and arms.

Police arrested Herrera in his hotel room without incident. He was released on a summons with a future court date. 

Following news of Herrera's arrest, the MLB placed him on administrative leave.
