PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A former Bucks County teacher is dead after being struck by a bus Monday.
Police say the victim — identified by family as 69-year-old Katherine "Kitty" Semisch — was hit around 3 p.m. by a Bucks County Transport bus while crossing the traffic circle in front of the Bucks County library.
She was taken to a hospital, where she was later pronounced dead.
Semisch, a retired Central Bucks English teacher, was a visible and vocal education advocate who argued against district policies such as school library book bans.
She was also profiled in a recent PBS documentary, "Bucks County USA," about political and cultural conflict within the Central Bucks School District.
Central Bucks police say an investigation is ongoing.
