
The pandemic has forced them to change their response approach during this busier-than-usual storm season, with extra safety measures and new ways to provide services.
She added they're also beefing up their digital response to relief efforts.
“Make sure we can still provide the support for people who are displaced by disasters,” she said.
That support still includes putting boots on the ground.
Kluthe and a team of 10 local workers are currently in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, working in areas that have been hit with a number of different tropical storms and hurricanes, providing disaster assessment and getting out 30,000 meals a day.
“We have people down here making sure that people are comfortable that people have what they need in a safe environment to spend the night, to feeding, making sure that we are getting meals out to hard hit communities,” she explained.
