“The comedians, we’ve all lost our jobs,” said Theresa Hummel-Krallinger, a comedian in the area for 17 years. “There’s no clubs, there’s no cruise ships, there’s no money. So all the comics are out of work. So we thought: What can we do that will involve as many comics as we can? Also give joy to people who are stuck inside?”
Every Friday at 8 p.m., Hummel-Krallinger and co-host Chris Coccia hop on Zoom for a virtual comedy hour with a team of other jokesters for conversation and games, including their version of Match Game. (Ask your grandparents what that is.)
“The thing that’s different about this show than a regular comedy is you have eight comics in a room,” she said. “Regular comedy show, you have three. We might have four to six headliners in a room. When you have people like Joe Conklin, Julia Scotti, Grover Silcox — these are seasoned headliners.”
She says it’s funny, but you don’t have to take her word for it.
“When you have that many people in the room it’s explosive.”
It’s free to join the party, but if you like the laughs, you can donate to the virtual tip jar via PayPal.
