Philly police officer arrested for domestic assault

PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A Philadelphia police officer has been arrested after an Internal Affairs investigation looked into a domestic assault.

Jesse Alvarez, 29, who worked in the 35th District, is charged with two counts of simple assault. He has been suspended for a month and will then be dismissed.

He was a four-year veteran of the department.

In September 2023, Philadelphia Judge Zachary Shaffer dismissed the case. A Municipal Court judge had also dismissed some of the charges in August 2021.
