"People look to the arts especially during these past few months for some sort of outlet or distraction from everything that is going on. So I'm so excited, so grateful for performing," said Pilato.

The free, 30-minute performances are part of "Serenade on the Avenue" — a way to keep the arts alive in Philadelphia.


"Everyone is going to be safely distanced and we have very large sidewalks along the Avenue of the Arts, so bring your folding chairs," said Carl Dranoff, the developer of Arthaus.

The opera performance will start at 6 p.m.

On Sept. 30, University of the Arts performers will sing Broadway tunes, and on Oct. 14, it's a night of jazz.
