Middletown Twp. police investigate deadly Route 1 hit-and-run

A deadly hit-and-run had U.S. Route 1 in Bucks County closed Monday morning.

MIDDLETOWN, TWP., Pa. (KYW Newsradio) — Police in Bucks County are investigating a deadly hit-and-run on Route 1 in Langhorne on Monday morning. 

Police closed the busy highway between Interstate 295 and the Pennsylvania Turnpike for hours during the morning rush as they investigated the deadly crash. 

At around 3:30 a.m., Middletown Township Police say, a 29-year-old woman was hit by several cars that didn’t stop on Route 1 near Neshaminy High School. The victim, who has not been identified, was pronounced dead on the scene. Police she was either walking along the highway or trying to cross.

Police have not released details about the hit-and-run driver or the type of vehicle they were driving.

Roads around the site were backed up as drivers tried to get through the area. The Neshaminy School District reported, via Twitter, that many school buses arrived late at the high school and middle schools.
