PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Authorities have identified the victim of Thursday night's deadly hit-and-run in Montgomery County as 51-year-old Carter Wilson. The incident happened not far from Wilson's home in Ardmore.

Wilson later died in the hospital.

"Why would you want to live with that for the rest of your life?" Jay Breslin, who works nearby, told CBS 3.

The hit-and-run happened in a busy area, where there are homes and apartments, a day care, a post office, a church. The Ardmore Shopping Center is nearby on Lancaster Avenue.

"I'm surprised it hasn't happened before, because people just fly down here," Breslin said.

"There's a crosswalk there, but people just treat it like it's not even there," he said. "Cars honking at pedestrians walking in the crosswalk, and it's like: 'Dude, it's a crosswalk. Wait for the people to cross.'"

Lower Merion Police say the Jeep involved in this hit-and-run may have front-end damage. They hope surveillance footage will get them in the right direction. Anyone with information helpful to the investigation is asked to give them a call.
