Ravens coach calls NFL COVID-19 protocols 'humanly impossible'

Harbaugh, speaking to 105.7 The Fan in Baltimore, says he believes it’s unrealistic what the clubs are being told.

Some of the physical-distancing policies include keeping everyone six feet apart when inside the facilities and reconfiguring locker rooms so players can keep that space.

Virtual meetings are encouraged as often as possible. If teams need to meet in person, they will need to gather outdoors, with masks and social distancing. Meetings that make proper social distancing impossible are foridden. And nobody can share materials either.

“We’re gonna do everything we can do,” Harbaugh said. “We’re gonna space. We’re gonna have masks. But this is a communication sport. So, if we wanna get out there and actually have any idea about what we’re doing on the field, we have to be able to communicate with each other in person. We have to practice. And I’m pretty sure the huddle’s not gonna be six-feet spaced.

“I don’t know, are guys going to shower one at a time all day? Are guys going to lift weights one at a time all day? These are things the league and the (players association) needs to get handle and needs to get agreed with some common sense so we can operate in the 13-hour day in Training Camp that they’re giving us to get our work done.”

While Harbaugh sounded annoyed, he’s confident adjustments can be made.

“You can tell by my voice, I’m a little frustrated with what I’m hearing there and I think they need to get that pinned down a little better.

“Now maybe we’ll know more in two months and they’ll be able to be a little more realistic and practical in what they’re asking. I expect that to be the case. I think good people, smart people are involved in this. But the way I’m reading these memos right now, you throw your hands up and you go, ‘Well, you know, what the heck?’”
