"Come forward, speak to our investigators and let's resolve this situation the easiest way possible," said Master Corporal Michael Austin.
That's Austin's message to the driver of a dark colored SUV he says had some type of interaction with a state trooper while that officer was directing traffic at a light that wasn't working.
"And at some point during that interaction with the trooper still on that vehicle, and he was subsequently dragged from the intersection of Kirkwood Highway and Ferrand Drive, approximately 1/10 of a mile down to the entrance of a Kirkwood Gardens neighborhood," Austin said.
That's where the driver was last seen.
It happened before 2 p.m., and police say the officer was brought to the hospital in stable condition.
They are asking any witnesses to also come forward.
