PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio)  Philadelphia’s Amos Lee, who will be part of the PHLove benefit concert, said listeners can expect to hear “lots of surprises” as artists from the city gather — virtually — to raise money for Philadelphia’s PHL COVID-19 Fund.

The singer-songwriter said staying at home amid the pandemic has given him the opportunity to learn new songs and spend more time writing and playing music.

“Now, I’m not touring at all. I’m just at home, playing more guitar, playing piano, and I’m writing as much as I ever had,” he said.

Lee said the pandemic has also made him feel more emotional.

“The cool thing is that we are all sharing this moment together, which is pretty rare for society,” he added.

He will be covering a song as part of his performance during the benefit concert, which he’s looking forward to.

“No one’s ever done stuff like this before where the artists are just at home. It’s usually very produced and you know what to expect and the lights are gonna be this,” he said.

Lee, who grew up listening to KYW Newsradio, shared a cover of the station jingle he posted on his Instagram story.

“As a kid, I would just be glued to KYW, waiting to hear if my school got canceled. It was like the voice of the heavens to me,” he added.

The concert will air from 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday on KYW Newsradio and on RADIO.COM.
