PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Friday is Singles Awareness Day, and those who are not in a relationship are being celebrated on the day after Valentine's Day.

Folks with whom KYW Newsradio spoke about Singles Awareness Day say whether you're in a relationship or not, it's important to learn to do things without a partner.

"Like how to hang out with themselves, how to appreciate alone time, I think," said Valerie from Northern Liberties.

Zoe Furman said, "Sometimes, it's nice to be alone and not have to worry about anyone else but me and my dog."

Nuria Hunter told KYW Newsradio she has plans for the day.

"Yeah, I'm taking myself out to dinner. I have reservations, it's going to be great, I'm going to go see a movie, it'll be awesome," she said.

Whether you are in a relationship or not, Singles Awareness Day is a day to remember an important message.

"Love isn't just something you give, it's something you receive from yourself," said Marshall Kavanaugh.
