POTTSTOWN, Pa. (KYW Newsradio) — A teacher at Owen J. Roberts High School in Pottstown is charged with inappropriate contact with a student.

Stephen Raught is charged with institutional sexual assault, corruption of minors, and other counts.

The Chester County District Attorney’s Office said a 17-year-old student went to the high school on March 16 to get her belongings, after schools were shut down for the year due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The student told investigators that 53-year-old Raught kissed her on the lips, then led her to another part of his classroom, out of the view from the door. He allegedly engaged in further sexual contact.

He was taken to the Chester County jail, where his bail was set at $50,000 cash.

The school district said he is on administrative leave.
