She wanted to help those in Delaware County who are in dire need of food. So, she created a Facebook page a week ago, called the Corona Relief Squad, to provide free groceries to those struggling during the COVID-19 crisis.
Since then, requests have grown tremendously, and Gill needs more volunteers to help with deliveries.
“I've done 53 deliveries so far and if that means one person has to go out to get the groceries for 53 families, that's 53 families that don't have to go out and put themselves at risk for this infection,” she said.
Recipients get a bag delivered to their doorstep, filled with items like milk, water, cereal or laundry detergent.
Gill paid for the groceries with her own money, and her parents are pitching in now, too, but she’s also accepting monetary or sealed food donations.
