For young Philly 'She-J,' keeping it clean at her gigs is just one small part

PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — It's a bad word-free zone when a young Philadelphia DJ plays the tunes, and she's in demand.

Denim Stanback of East Oak Lane refers to herself as a "She-J", and she keeps it clean at her gigs with no inappropriate language in the music she plays.

The 14-year-old says people seek her out because "I'm a black female youth DJ. They want somebody to fit the age of the crowd and make it more fun for them to see."

Stanback goes by Q'Dee, and her goal is to satisfy everyone at events no matter their age.

"I also rap as well. I am a clean hip-hop artist as well," she said. "So I also take that with me when I travel. I just make the crowd hype."

Her parents take her to different events and her father, Ted, is also a DJ and goes by Ted Live.

"I'm the person there if she has to go to the bathroom," he joked.

Q'Dee does parties and weddings and has traveled as far away as North Carolina.
