EVENT: Jamaica's 57th Independence Celebration Bob Marley Tribute 2019

DETAILS: Enjoy a taste of Jamaica in Philadelphia, with 300 vendors showcasing culture, food and drinks. There will be contests for singing and dancing, bun-eating, Jamaica Hot Patty-eating, beer-drinking, tug of war, and more. Some include cash prizes.

DETAILS: Creepy, crawly, sticky, prickly, wiggly, yucky. And kinda cute — at least that's what we think about bugs at the Academy of Natural Sciences. Enjoy new activities and shows, plus revisit some old favorites back by popular demand. Talk with real scientists, learn about insects from all over the world, and see specimens from the academy’s behind-the-scenes collections. Eat bugs, get your face painted, and relax as you enjoy a buggy show.

EVENT: Black Label ComiCon
DATE/TIME: Saturday, 10 a.m.
WHERE: Hampton Inn Philadelphia Center City-Convention Center, 1301 Race St.
DETAILS: Black Label ComiCon will be the first of its kind on the East Coast. It is a comic-con that will feature only intellectual properties of producers in the comic book, fantasy, and sci-fi industry. It will also embrace the history and the meaning of black Wall Street. No other comic-con has ever made such an event centered around this era of black-owned business during the early 1920s in American history. There will also be a costume contest, informative discussion panels during the event, and a photo shoot area.

EVENT: Peach, Princess & Pirate Celebration

WHERE: Camden Children’s Garden, 3 Riverside Drive, Camden, New Jersey
DETAILS: Join the party for New Jersey’s favorite summer fruit with crafts and a treasure hunt. Children are encouraged to dress in their favorite princess or pirate costume to receive $1 off admission. Walk the plank and make a princess wand.
